Traditional north European town houses

We know this way of living, but it is rarely seen here.  It won't suit everyone, but it will appeal to enough that it should at least be allowed at the fringes of the central city and suburban nodes.  The architectural style is irrelevant, and while I find the older ones nicer to live with, the modern versions look quite comfortable in architectural magazines everywhere.

The old north European town-house pattern, with tall (two to four storey) houses built on the street front with no side setback, and private garden or courtyard(s) to the back. The courtyard might me accessed from the street by a gated tunnel through the house.
